About Kriovate

A small company with a firm line.

Kriovate Ltd is a software company registered in England & Wales. We build privacy-respecting tools for people who’d rather their data stayed theirs. Our first product is Krypsis, a private vault for iPhone and iPad; others will follow, and they will be held to the same commitments.

The commitments below aren’t a marketing campaign — they’re the constraints we hold ourselves to across everything we publish, and the ones each product’s Terms of Service point back to.

Our commitments

01 Encryption we can’t bypass

Where our software encrypts your content, it does so with a key derived from something only you know. We hold no master key, no recovery key, and no backdoor. If a government or a court asks us to unlock it, we can’t — the mathematics, not our policy, is what stops us. In Krypsis, for example, the only data we can tie to a person is whether an Apple Account holds a purchase.

02 No tracking, in any product

There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no cross-app tracking in anything we publish — not switched off, not present. This website has no cookies, no pixels, and no third-party scripts. The only data that reaches us is whether an Apple Account holds a purchase. Where a product offers cloud sync, your content goes encrypted to your own account with the cloud provider, never to us; we run no servers that hold it.

03 Honest pricing, no dark patterns

The price you see at checkout is the price you pay. We don’t use fake countdown timers, manufactured scarcity, guilt-worded decline buttons, or buried cancellation. Subscriptions are cancelled in one place — iOS Settings — and we say so plainly. We also won’t sell you the same thing twice: where a one-time purchase already covers a feature, we don’t charge a subscription for it as well.

04 We’d rather be checkable than trusted

Our privacy claims are meant to be verifiable, not merely stated. Our production binaries contain no logging of what you do, and anyone with the app can confirm it. Where we can open-source a cryptographic core, we intend to — and until that is genuinely done, we won’t describe anything we publish as “open source” or “audited”.

05 Your data is never trapped

You can export everything, at any time, in a documented format — a full encrypted archive, or individual items back to wherever they came from. If we ever discontinue a product, we commit to a final release that lets you take your data with you, plus public documentation on how to decrypt it independently.

06 We put the hard edge first

Real end-to-end encryption has a cost: if the key comes from something only you know and you lose it, the data is gone — we cannot recover it. We put that warning before the purchase rather than in the small print, and we build the backup tools that mean you should never have to test it.

07 Narrow on purpose

We are a small company and we intend to stay one. We’d rather publish a handful of things that do one job properly than a catalogue of apps that quietly harvest the people using them. If a feature can only work by learning something about you that we’d rather not know, we don’t ship it.
